Zion National Park: DAY FOUR

We said goodbye to our campsite one last time and headed into the park.

We were going to be a little crunched on time today because I had to get my oil changed and drive back to San Diego. So, we were only going to hike for an hour.

We picked the West Rim trail for our last hike. We thought we were only going to hike in for 30 minutes and out for 30 minutes, so we didn't follow our normal hiking routine. We didn't put sunscreen on. We didn't bring any water – never do this. Basically, we were unprepared for what came ahead.

I thought the rim trail would be a light walk along the edge of the cliff face, similar to the first hike we did on the first day. I could not have been more wrong.

This is one of the most difficult hikes I have done. It is a straight incline the whole way up, and when they say "rim," they mean the top of the canyon rim, so to get there, it is two miles scaling the side of a sheer cliff.

My legs were BURNING. We had gotten 30 minutes in, but decided to send the whole hike because we did not want to give up. We thought it would be worth it to spend the extra time.

Best decision ever

After dying on the hike up, the view was totally worth it. It was breathtaking. The hike itself was also very interesting and not something you experience every day.

We were at the top of Zion looking down on the whole park. It was incredible, I wish I could describe how insane it was, but here are some pictures we took to try to capture the view.

After trying to soak in as much of the amazing experience as we could, we sped straight downhill to head on home. We didn't want to leave, but we also had a seven hour drive left. We waved goodbye to Zion as we started our trip back home, getting my oil changed along the way.

On our drive home we stopped by Seven Magic Mountains. It's been a dream of mine to go here, literally on my bucket list, so I'm super happy we got a chance to stop. It is a fun art piece out in the middle of the desert.

For anyone who knows me, I love art and I love color – this could not have gotten better. I had a blast while we were there because I was obsessed with the pieces. When I have a house, I want to make a small replica of it in my backyard.

We made it back to San Diego safe and sound a little while later.
